Dear Chilruns,
You have heard it said “You are what you eat,” and what you eat does have something to do with our lives. You have also been programmed by society to believe that “You are what you do.“ It is true that what you do reflects who you are but the real truth is “You are who God says you are.”
You are
Forgiven (John 3:15, 16)
- Forgiven (John 3:15, 16)
- Salt and light (Matthew 5:13, 14)
- Valuable (Luke 12:24)
- In Christ (John 14:20, 17:21)
- Clean (John 15:3)
- His Friend (John 15:14)
- Chosen (Romans 1:6, 7)
- Weak Alone (Romans 6:19)
- Coworker of God (I Corinthians 3:9)
- Of His Household (Ephesians 2:19)
So… We are not what we do,
but we ARE who God says we are.
Many times we will feel like we are disappointing someone – parents, friends, or teachers. We may feel this way, because we are comparing ourselves to others. That generates expectations that don’t often agree with God’s purpose for us.
God’s view of who we are is significant. There is only one God and it is not you, your family, your friends, or your teachers. God sees the completed picture. You and I are still putting the pieces together and we will continue to be doing this as long as we live. God created you for a relationship with him. We can never earn his love or his fellowship.
If we feel that he is harsh, then our view of Him is incorrect. His yoke is easy, His burden light.
Know and be who God says you are…
(forgiven, salt and light, valuable, in Christ, His friend, chosen, weak on your own, coworker with Him, a part of His household)
